In India, the trend has been in favour of compact sedans for the past couple of years or so. More and more people are opting for these cars as they offer the double benefit of compactness and spaciousness. Adding to the desirability is the excise duty cuts on cars under four meters in length, which was offered by the Indian government. Moreover, the compact sedans are not as bulky as the sedans. They are easier to handle, fuel-efficient and affordable too.
The major players in the compact sedan segment are Maruti, Honda and Hyundai. Of these, the Maruti Swift DZire and Honda Amaze are the top sellers and they enjoy great buyer backing. Here is a closer look at the two vis a vis each other. Interestingly, both these cars are first ever compact sedans from the makers. Let us try to find the differences between the two based on common factors like price, engine capacities, mileage and other features.

Both these cars come equipped with five-speed manual transmission gearbox. Both cars are available in both diesel and petrol variants too.

The Honda car also possesses a more attractive and balanced look, as compared to the Maruti car. Nevertheless, Swift Dzire offers the best handling and smoother ride than the Amaze. Although the Amaze is feature-rich than the DZire, Maruti has an unbeatable after sales service network. This means it easy to get spares and services.
